About the Rolex Datejust 31

The Datejust, introduced in 1945, was the first self-winding wristwatch chronometer to show the date in a window on the dial; the Cyclops magnifier over the date followed in 1953. The 31 mm size sits between the Lady-Datejust and the Datejust 36, and current references (the 2782xx series) use the caliber 2236.

Two watches with the same reference can differ in dial, bezel (fluted, smooth or set with diamonds) and bracelet (Oyster, Jubilee or President). The full reference, such as 278273-0018, pins down the exact version; check it against the warranty card.
