Ulysse Nardin combines two very different identities: the naval tradition of a maker of marine chronometers, and the experimental side that produced the Freak, a watch without a dial or crown. We have 185 Ulysse Nardin watches in stock, from $2,200 to $219,955.

A short history

Ulysse Nardin founded the company in 1846 in Le Locle, in the Swiss Jura. It became famous for marine chronometers, the precision clocks ships used to find their longitude, and supplied many of the world's navies. The anchor in its logo comes from that history.

In 2001 the brand launched the Freak, a watch whose movement rotates on itself to show the time, with no dial, hands in the usual sense or crown. It was also one of the first watches to use silicon parts in its escapement, a material now common across the industry. Ulysse Nardin spent several years in the Kering group and has been independent again since 2022.

The collections

Diver. Dive watches with rubber straps and bold bezels, including the Diver Chronometer, Diver Chronograph and the colourful NET models. In stock: 6 Diver, 7 Diver Chronometer and 5 Diver Chronograph. The Lady Diver is the smaller version: 7 in stock.

Freak. The avant-garde line with the rotating movement. In stock: 19, from $15,795.

Blast. Angular, skeletonised watches, many with tourbillons. In stock: 9 Blast tourbillons.

Executive. Sporty-elegant watches with dual time and large-date displays. In stock: 8.

What Ulysse Nardin costs

What to check on a pre-owned Ulysse Nardin

  • Rubber straps. Many Divers are on integrated rubber straps that crack with age; check the condition and whether a replacement is easy to find.
  • The Freak. It is set by turning the bezel, not a crown; ask for a short video showing it working.
  • Water resistance. Divers should have been pressure tested at their last service; see water resistance explained.
  • Papers and service. See our pre-owned checklist.

Ulysse Nardin or another dive watch?

The Ulysse Nardin Diver is a bolder, more unusual choice than a Submariner or Seamaster. Compare the options in the best dive watches.
