Hublot Big Bang vs Classic Fusion: Which Hublot Is Right for You?

Hublot Big Bang vs Classic Fusion compared: size, thickness, chronograph vs three-hand, the Unico movement, materials and prices from our stock.

Hublot Classic Fusion Black Magic 42 mm, reference 542.CM.1171.RX

Hublot was founded in 1980 on one idea: a gold watch on a rubber strap. Mixing materials that tradition kept apart, which Hublot calls the "Art of Fusion", still defines the brand. Its two main lines take that idea in opposite directions. The Big Bang is large, layered and loud. The Classic Fusion is slim and restrained. In our stock the Big Bang starts at $3,740 and the Classic Fusion at $3,960.

The Big Bang

The Big Bang made Hublot famous. The case is built in layers, often mixing ceramic, titanium, gold, carbon or sapphire, and on Unico models the dial is open so you can see the chronograph mechanism working. The "One Click" system lets you swap straps without tools. It is a statement watch and wears like one.

The Classic Fusion

The Classic Fusion keeps the bezel and the screws but drops the bulk. The dial is plain, the case is thin, and the watch works with a suit. It is also the less expensive way into the brand. The Black Magic versions in polished and matte black ceramic are among the most popular.

Materials

Hublot is a leader in case materials. Ceramic is very scratch-resistant and comes in colors few others make. King Gold is its own redder gold alloy. Magic Gold is a scratch-resistant gold fused with ceramic. Titanium keeps a large watch light.

Which should you buy?
