H. Moser & Cie. is a small independent watchmaker with a very clear style: smoked dials, very little text and movements made in-house. It has three main lines. This guide explains how they differ.

A name from 1828, a manufacture from 2005

Heinrich Moser, a watchmaker from Schaffhausen, founded his company in 1828 and built a large business in St. Petersburg. The modern H. Moser & Cie. was relaunched in 2005 and is a small independent manufacture at Neuhausen am Rheinfall, beside the Rhine Falls.

Moser makes its own movements and, through a sister company, its own hairsprings, something few watchmakers do.

The Moser look

The style is minimal. The best-known feature is the fumé dial, a smoked dial that darkens toward the edge. On some watches there is no brand name and there are no hour markers on the dial at all.

Material changes everything

The same model comes in steel, gold and other materials at very different prices. Check the case material in the specifications before you compare two listings.

Small numbers

Production is small, and many dial colors are made in limited numbers. The listing states the edition where it applies.

Which one should you buy?

  • Streamliner if you want an integrated-bracelet sports watch.
  • Endeavour if you want the purest version of the Moser style, or a complication such as the perpetual calendar.
  • Pioneer if you want a Moser you can wear every day, including in water.

Every watch we sell is checked by our specialist before it ships. We are an independent retailer, not an authorized dealer of the brand; the listing says what comes with each watch.
