Girard-Perregaux is one of the oldest Swiss manufactures and one of the most underrated. Its Laureato is an integrated-bracelet sports watch from the same era as the Royal Oak and Nautilus, usually at a fraction of the price. We have 97 Girard-Perregaux watches in stock, from $1,670 to $435,600.

A short history

The company traces its roots to 1791 in Geneva. Its name comes from the watchmaker Constant Girard and his wife Marie Perregaux, who joined forces in the 1850s in La Chaux-de-Fonds, where the brand is still based. Constant Girard's Tourbillon with Three Gold Bridges, with the movement's bridges shaped as three parallel arrows, became one of the most famous designs in watchmaking and still inspires the Bridges collection.

The Laureato appeared in 1975: an octagonal bezel on a round case with an integrated bracelet. It was revived in 2016 and has become the brand's best seller.

The collections

Laureato. Steel, titanium, ceramic and gold sports watches with integrated bracelets, from 34 to 42 mm, including chronographs and the Laureato Absolute. In stock: 36, from $6,070.

1966. Classic round dress watches, often with small seconds or moon phase. In stock: 3 1966 Automatic and 3 1966 Orion.

Vintage 1945. Rectangular, curved Art Deco cases, including large-date and moon-phase models. In stock: 3.

Bridges. Skeletonised movements built around the three bridges, from Neo Bridges to tourbillons. In stock: 3 Neo Bridges.

What Girard-Perregaux costs

Our prices run from $1,670 to $435,600; new or unworn pieces start at $6,565 and pre-owned at $1,670. A steel Laureato typically costs much less than the integrated-bracelet icons of Audemars Piguet, Patek Philippe or Vacheron Constantin.

Laureato or Royal Oak?

Both are octagonal-bezel steel sports watches from the 1970s. The Royal Oak costs far more and is harder to find; the Laureato offers a similar style and real manufacture credentials for much less. See our Audemars Piguet buying guide.

What to check on a pre-owned Girard-Perregaux

  • Laureato bracelets. The integrated bracelet tapers; check for stretch and how many links are included.
  • Polishing. The Laureato's octagonal bezel is polished, the case brushed; over-polishing softens the edges.
  • Papers and service. See our pre-owned checklist.
