The Tonda PF is the watch that has defined Parmigiani Fleurier since 2021: slim, on an integrated bracelet, with almost no text on the dial. Listings can be confusing, because several earlier watches also carry the Tonda name. This guide explains what to look for.
The restorer who founded a brand
Michel Parmigiani made his name restoring antique clocks and watches before founding his own brand in 1996 in Fleurier, in the Swiss Val-de-Travers. The company makes its movements, cases and dials within its own group of workshops.
What makes a Tonda PF
Three things identify it:
- an integrated bracelet and a slim case;
- a finely knurled platinum bezel, even on the steel models;
- a hand-guilloché dial with almost no text.
The line runs from the Micro-Rotor to the GMT Rattrapante and chronographs.
Steel or gold
The Tonda PF is made in steel with a platinum bezel, and in full gold or platinum. The case material changes the price a great deal, so it is the first thing to check when you compare two listings.
In our stock the Tonda family comes in 36 mm, 40 mm and 42 mm, all automatic, and most are water resistant to 100 meters.
Tonda PF or an earlier Tonda?
Earlier models, the Tonda 1950, the Tonda GT and the Tondagraph, are different watches from the Tonda PF. They share the name and some of the case shape, not the bezel, the dial or the bracelet. Compare the photos and the reference before you assume two listings are the same watch.
The other lines
- Toric: the round dress watch, the first design Michel Parmigiani drew for the brand.
- Kalpa: a tonneau-shaped case with a movement made to fit its shape.
What to check on a listing
- Which Tonda it is: PF or an earlier model.
- The case material.
- The size, 36, 40 or 42 mm.
- The complication, since the same line holds simple and very complicated watches.
Every watch we sell is checked by our specialist before it ships. We are an independent retailer, not an authorized dealer of the brand; the listing says what comes with each watch.
