About G-Shock
The G-Shock was conceived by the Casio engineer Kikuo Ibe, who set out to build a watch that would survive a 10-meter fall, resist water to 10 bar and run 10 years on a battery. The first model, the DW-5000C, went on sale in April 1983.
The idea behind it is a module that floats inside the case, protected from impact. The range now runs from resin watches to the MR-G line, with metal cases and bracelets in hardened titanium.
