Seamaster Diver 300M vs Aqua Terra 150M compared: size, bezel, movement, water resistance, dial and price, and which Omega suits daily wear, diving or the office.

Omega Seamaster Aqua Terra in steel, reference 220.12.41.21.03.005

The Diver 300M and the Aqua Terra are both Omega Seamasters, but they do different jobs. The Diver 300M is a dive watch: rotating bezel, 300 m of water resistance, a bold wave dial. The Aqua Terra is an all-rounder: no bezel, a slimmer profile, 150 m of water resistance, and a dial that looks at home under a shirt cuff. In our stock the Diver 300M starts at $4,000 and the Aqua Terra at $3,255.

How they wear

The Diver 300M is the sportier watch. The bezel, the helium valve at 10 o'clock and the skeleton hands give it presence, and it sits a little taller on the wrist. On the rubber strap it is one of the most comfortable dive watches you can buy.

The Aqua Terra is flatter and quieter. With no bezel, the dial looks larger than its size suggests, and the watch slides under a cuff. It is the Seamaster people wear with a suit during the week and in the pool at the weekend.

Movement

Both carry Omega's Co-Axial Master Chronometer movements, tested by METAS to run within 0 to +5 seconds a day and to resist magnetic fields of 15,000 gauss. The Aqua Terra's calibre 8900 adds a practical travel feature: the hour hand can be moved in one-hour jumps without stopping the watch.

Which should you buy?

Choose the Diver 300M if you want a dive watch with a strong identity, you like a rotating bezel, or you actually dive.

Choose the Aqua Terra if you want one watch for everything, you prefer a cleaner look, or you have a smaller wrist (the 38 mm is one of the best-proportioned sport watches made).

Frequently asked questions

Can you swim with an Omega Aqua Terra?

Yes. It is water resistant to 150 m and has a screw-down crown, which is more than enough for swimming and snorkeling. Make sure the crown is screwed down first.

Is the Aqua Terra a dress watch?

It is a sport watch that dresses up well. It is slim enough for a cuff and has no rotating bezel, so many owners wear it with a suit.

Which is more expensive, the Diver 300M or the Aqua Terra?

They are priced close to each other. In our stock the Diver 300M typically costs $6,155 and the Aqua Terra $6,510; material and bracelet change the price more than the model does.

Do both have a date?

Most references of both models have a date at 6 o'clock. Check the listing for the exact reference.
