About Ressence

Ressence was founded in 2010 in Antwerp, Belgium, by the industrial designer Benoît Mintiens. In place of hands, each watch has a dial made of rotating discs that orbit one another, driven by a module the company developed, so the face changes continuously through the day.

The watches have no crown: they are wound and set by turning the case back. On some models the space above the dial is filled with oil, which makes the display look as if it were printed on the crystal.

Signature models

Type 1
The everyday model, with a slim domed case.
Type 3
The oil-filled watch: the display seems to sit on the surface of the glass.
Type 5
The dive watch, also oil-filled, readable under water from any angle.
Type 8
The simplest Ressence: hours and minutes only.
