About Accutron

The Accutron was introduced by Bulova in 1960. Developed by the engineer Max Hetzel, it kept time with a tuning fork vibrating 360 times a second instead of a balance wheel, and it hummed where other watches ticked. The Spaceview versions left the movement visible through the dial.

In 2020 Accutron became a brand in its own right within the Citizen group, which has owned Bulova since 2008. Its new Spaceview uses a movement powered by electrostatic energy generated by the motion of the wrist.

The open-dial watch with the electrostatic movement, in 43 mm; the Spaceview 314 revives the original tuning-fork design in 39 mm.

A 45 mm sports version of the electrostatic Spaceview.
